Youth Unemployment

Youth Volunteering

WBYI has a proud track record of volunteer development through community engagement opportunities, work experience and student placements. We offer a range of youth and community actvities to engage young people onto volunteering projects using arts and craft, multi sports days and educational initiatives. We take on young volunteers aged 14 to 25 year olds who receive inductions and training to support their personal and social development. All new volunteers are expected to work with the WBYI ethos of community particpaton, good community and youth practice, and adhering to WBYI policies and procedures. WBYI works in partnership with Bradford Trident, BYDP, Woodroyd Nursery, and Bradfiord Council to deliver activities.

Crime prevention

WBYI works with partners to address youth crime and anti social behaviour by engaging young people through participation at a local level and reaching out to at risk young people, young offenders and ex offenders. WBYI uses groupwork and sports and leisure activities working with local volunteers to plan and develop activities

for peer groups and focus on delivering key messages through anti crime workshops with partners such as the West Yorkshire Fire service.

For example we have delivered road traffic collision sessions informing and educating young people of risks and dangers on the roads. We have engage young people on education programmes and continue to work to reduce crime and negative impact to the lcoa community.
